Placer County STRs
If you do not have a compliant defensible space inspection for an STR permit, please use the zone links below to request to be added to a list for an inspection in your zone.
These inspections will occur between October 2, 2024, and November 20, 2024. There are no more appointments, no estimated time for the inspection and will be done randomly without notification, and there is no estimated time or date of when the inspection will be done. Inspectors will not meet anyone on site due to the time restraints with the upcoming 11/30 deadline. Inspectors are trying to do as many as they can before the deadline.
If an inspection is completed at your address, a report from FPO@ntfire.net and a cost recovery invoice from Square.com will be sent to the email address submitted with your request. Lack of payment will result in a failed inspection the invoice will be issued after the inspection.
Only use the zone request forms if you are not part of a condo HOA.
These are not set appointments, and there is no more calendar.
If you are part of an HOA/Condo Complex, do not schedule using the zone calendars.

If you already have a passing STR Defensible Space Inspection from NTF dated July 1, 2022, or later, you may use this inspection report for this 2024 calendar year. Please submit your passing inspection report to the Placer County STR Office. Inspections that still need to be completed, must do so by 11/30/2024. This inspection is only able to be conducted when snow is clear from the ground. NTF will collect the fee for and conduct the STR Defensible Space inspections for our district.
NTF Cost Recovery Fees will be collected for STR Defensible Space Inspections for all STR permits. These cost recovery fees were not collected by the Placer County STR program. NTF collects these fees directly via an invoice issued through Square.com.
For Interior Inspections
STR Fire & Life Safety interior inspections will be conducted by Placer County staff starting January 2024 for STRs within the North Tahoe Fire District. To schedule with Placer County Staff email scheduleSTR@placer.ca.gov
