EMS

The EMS Division is headed by Battalion Chief Scott Sedgwick

Battalion Chief Sedgewick is responsible for the District’s EMS program. Approximately 78% of the emergency calls for the District contain a component of emergency medical services (EMS). The mission of our EMS program is to be the leader in prehospital emergency medical services through well-trained personnel rapidly providing excellent, cost-effective care to all patients by utilizing appropriate equipment and technology in our unique environment. All of the District’s safety personnel are qualified to work as either Paramedics or EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians).

The District provides Advanced Life Support Paramedics and ambulance transport to the North and West shores of Lake Tahoe from the Nevada State line to Emerald Bay in El Dorado County, to Alpine Meadows, and on the lake waters of Tahoe in cooperation with the United States Coast Guard.  Thanks to funding from the Truckee Tahoe Airport District Agency Partnership, two Zoll X-series Advanced Monitor/Defibrillators were put into service in March 2022, helping North Tahoe Fire to achieve our goal of making all five our of Fire Engines Advanced Life Support (ALS Paramedic).  This vital ALS gear allows us to provide ALS Paramedic care to our constituents and visitors if one of our engines arrives at the scene of an emergency incident before an ambulance. The District also provides Paramedic ambulance service to Olympic Valley in cooperation with Olympic Valley Fire Department’s Paramedics.
